Technical Product Owner - Supply Integrations Platform

Job description

Will you join us on a journey to disrupt the trillion dollar travel industry? We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to help us build FindHotel’s vision of becoming a global accommodation marketplace by building a supply integrations platform that allows us to scale up the capacity of our supply integration pipeline by 10X.

Travel is the one thing that opens minds to new ideas, cultures, and ways of thinking. We are on a mission to get every traveler the best accommodation deal worldwide. A core strategy to achieve this mission is to integrate accommodation supply more effectively than anybody else in the industry. As the leader of our Supply Integrations Platform you will play a key role in the implementation of this strategy by building a scalable integrations platform.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage supply integration projects end-to-end. This is a dual product/project management role where, especially in the beginning, you will spend a significant amount of your time ensuring that ongoing integration projects are managed correctly and delivered in high quality and in time.
  • Today, supply integrations into FindHotel’s Marketplace require careful coordination across multiple teams, and specific knowledge of FindHotel’s internal systems. Your objective is to create an open integration platform that will enable the integration and operation of potentially hundreds of suppliers with very little overhead.
  • Operating and continuously optimising commercial performance of every supplier that participates in FindHotel’s marketplace. This involves core optimisations such as accurately mapping supplier data structures with FindHotel’s own data models, or keeping up to date with supplier API upgrades, but also complex integration aspects such as optimising our hotel or room mapping algorithms.
  • Be the owner and the authority of everything related with supply integrations: content ingestion, hotel and room mapping, rates search, booking (for Book on FindHotel suppliers) and booking management, reporting and supply analytics.
  • Support our Head of Supply in the definition of our supply integrations pipeline, by providing effort/cost and calendar time estimates for specific integration projects.
  • Be accountable for the effective execution of this integration pipeline and for the management of all relevant stakeholders. While you shape FindHotel’s next-generation supply integration platform you will also need to maintain a steady flow of integrations.
  • Lead the execution of the integrations roadmap by leading our Supply Integrations Platform Squad that currently consists of 3 backend developers and that will grow to 6 developers and one analyst by the end of 2021. You will actively participate in the shaping of your team and in the recruitment of new team members.
  • Discover new integration capabilities, define enhancements, write requirements, prioritise and lead the squad with clear and well-articulated “what”.
  • Especially until the team has been fully bootstrapped by the end of 2021 you will be a very hands-on leader. For example you should expect to find yourself diving deep into API docs, and running analytical queries in our data warehouse on a daily basis.

Requirements

Who you are:

  • Preferably you have BSc or MSc in Computer Science or another technical field, or have previous experience as a developer/engineer.
  • Very strong project management skills, previous experience managing complex technical projects.
  • You can quickly understand technical documentation and, in particular, have a good understanding of API development methodologies and technologies.
  • Experience working as a Technical Product Owner/Manager, Technical/Engineering Project Manager, or similar, in high performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to prioritisation. You justify your decisions with data as much as possible but you are not paralysed when data is scarce or inaccurate. You have a strong bias towards action.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills. You can collaborate and communicate as effectively with with your technical team as with business stakeholders.
  • Strong customer focus and commercial mindset. You don’t focus on activities but on outcomes. What drives you is to make more happy customers book better deals, and to achieve a commercial impact.
  • A passion for solving problems and ability to translate those solutions into requirements that your team can execute.
  • You are passionate about the opportunity of using technology to disrupt the travel industry.

Why joining us now?

  • We aim to help 10M customers book on FindHotel annually by 2023, up from 2M in the past 12 months. We do that using data, transparency & industry leading features.
  • We grew the number of bookings by +100% Year-Over-Year both in 2018 and 2019, and even managed to thrive in Corona times by growing bookings by +40% in 2020. Now that the travel market is opening again we are rapidly accelerating our growth rate.
  • From our early beginnings as an organisation that excelled in user acquisition. In recent years we have grown into an engineering and product-driven organisation. Our independence from major players in the industry, and the maturity that we have achieved in terms of user acquisition, engineering and product enables us to be disruptive and build customer features that nobody else in the industry will.
