Our team comes from a variety of countries and backgrounds, and share the same passion for travelling and discovering new worlds and unconventional ways of doing things. We are independent thinkers, always looking to challenge each other and get better at what we do.
Our mission is to GET EVERY TRAVELLER THE BEST ACCOMMODATION DEAL, WORLDWIDE. From adventure and backpacking to honeymoons and family vacations, we give travellers access to all the information and the available offers for their accommodation of choice. We are a passionate and diverse team of amazing humans who value and respect each other. We are spread between our HQ in Amsterdam and the countries our remote folks work from. We are growing fast and even in times like these, we are being very successful.
We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Data Squad in our office in Amsterdam or remotely (between UTC-3 and UTC+3 time zone).
In FindHotel data is our core and we have the ambition that every decision should be based on data and every feature be fuelled with data. From our event streaming system to our A/B testing platform and Machine Learning models, we have a diverse team of engineers, data analysts, data scientists and business users contributing to make FindHotel a truly data-driven organisation. You will be part of the evolution of our data platform towards a domain-driven and decentralised Data Mesh.
What you’ll do:
Be in close contact with analysts and business users to define new data models that will help them make our products better.
Take care of our DWH, apply best practices in data modelling, quality and governance, and mentor your colleagues on them.
Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to develop end to end data products.
Ensure that our DWH grows in a scalable way and proactively detects issues.
Help analysts and business users accessing data products and building insightful visualisations and dashboards.
Collaborate with other engineers and analysts to build our next generation data platform following the Data Mesh paradigm.
Support the growth of junior and intermediate engineers by coaching them in their daily tasks, as well as raising the bar of how things are done within both your team and the bigger engineering group.
Who we are looking for:
You are used to working and thinking outside of the box, and not afraid to present unconventional ideas and solutions.
You have previous experience as an analytics, data or BI engineer, writing high-quality SQL code and using modern data frameworks like dbt, Dataform or others.
You are passionate about data modelling and data warehouse design and have experience with modern analytical databases like Snowflake, BigQuery or others
You have worked with modern self-service BI tools like Looker, Tableau or PowerBI, and you are able to use them to make the most of your data models, building insightful visualisations and dashboards
You are focused on the business and you are thrilled when you see that your data products help others make informed decisions.
You have experience gathering analytical business requirements, translating them to technical designs and developing robust and scalable data products.
You appreciate the importance of high data quality and governance standards and have experience applying them.
You have experience or interest in data analysis.
You love to help others and mentor them on data best practices.
You have a sense of pragmatism, constantly finding the right balance between achieving technical excellence and delivering value to the end-users.
You write tests as part of your coding routine and you strive for code quality and maintainability.
You engage with your team and all the engineering group actively, sharing knowledge and best practices in order to improve with them every day.
You are familiar with Agile Methodologies.
You strive for excellence, clarity and transparency, shipping business value as early as possible, and building incrementally afterwards.
(For remote candidates) Based in a time zone between UTC-3 and UTC+3
Bonus points for:
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.), IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) and CI/CD tools (Travis, Jenkins, etc.).
Experience working with distributed domain-driven data platforms
Experience with e-commerce, clickstream data and event tracking
