Head of Engineering

Job description

Will you join us on a journey to disrupt the trillion dollar travel industry? We are looking for a Head of Engineering to help us leverage Technology to boost our growth, and to deliver innovative features that surface value for customers well beyond the industry standards.

A core strategy to achieve our mission is to use data and technology more effectively that any other travel company. As the leader of our Engineering chapter you will play a key role in the implementation of this strategy by leading high performing engineering teams.


What you’ll do:

  • You will develop, hire and enable incredible engineering leaders and scale our team.
  • You will lead technology, delivery, innovation, and business impact of an engineering team of 35 that we expect to grow to 100 by the end of 2022.
  • You will partner closely with the Product chapter and its leaders.
  • You will lead the adoption of effective development methodologies across the organisation.
  • You will build a strong engineering culture and will continuously aim to raise the bar of our engineering practice.
  • You will enable collaboration and knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
  • Occasionally you will personally lead high-impact development projects that may involve high risk, or that due to any other circumstances may require hands on leadership from the head of engineering.



Requirements

Who you are:

  • You are passionate about the opportunity of using technology to disrupt the travel industry. You want to make an impact.
  • You thrive when developing great people, not just great products.
  • You have a broad engineering background and have ideally led a large team of Engineers in one or more technologically advanced organisations.
  • You have operated successfully in the past as a “manager of managers” and as a “leader of leaders”.
  • You are well-versed in data-driven and data-informed product development.
  • You approach organisational challenges with a systematic problem solver mindset, always looking for ways to make things run on its own without your continuous involvement.
  • You are a good listener that cares deeply for the people you manage. You have a track record of establishing trust relationships with your direct reports.
  • You have excellent communication and negotiation skills. You have past experience convincing and motivating others to embrace organisational changes.
  • You are an example of transparency for the rest of the team. Your decisions are always based on well funded arguments that the team can understand.
  • You are ready to embrace our company core values: focus on the customer, build trust, take ownership, be a team player, deliver results, and raise the bar.
